Position Overview

The Sports Director will be responsible for formulating and implementing strategic plans to enhance the overall athletic experience. This individual must possess exceptional leadership qualities, a deep understanding of sports management, and a commitment to promoting the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the overall vision of the athletic department.
• Manage athletic budgets, ensuring fiscal accountability and sustainability.
• Hire, mentor, and evaluate coaching staff across various sports disciplines.
• Develop and implement training programs and policies that align with the institution’s goals.
• Promote and oversee compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Title IX and conference rules.
• Engage with student-athletes to support their academic and personal development.
• Foster community relationships to enhance fundraising opportunities and support for athletic programs.
• Coordinate athletic schedules and facilities usage.
• Promote diversity and inclusion within the athletic program, ensuring equitable opportunities for all student-athletes.
• Analyze performance data to improve athlete and team performance, using analytics to inform strategic decisions.
• Represent the institution in conference meetings and events, ensuring positive relations with other schools and organizations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a combination of education and experience that provides a strong foundation in athletic administration.

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in athletic administration or sports management.
• Proven leadership skills with a collaborative style.
• Strong understanding of NCAA regulations and compliance.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with athletes, coaches, faculty, and the community.
• Proficiency in performance analytics and the use of technology in sports training.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising and community engagement.
